You can't be perfect all of the time. Some days you just won't be able to face your usual exercise routine. However, there is a guilt-free get-out: doing those odd jobs around the house and garden can benefit your fitness just as much as a session in the gym can. Laying stepping stones in the garden, energetic carpet cleaning, making that tree house that little Billy's been on at you to make, reorganizing the junk in the loft, and so on, will work your body in a wide variety of ways (remember to take all the usual precautions when bending, lifting, etc.). You should obviously avoid labour-saving devices wherever possible - use hand tools instead of power tools to build that tree house, for example. As well as benefiting your fitness, 'the household chores workout' provides a benefit that you simply can't get from any other workout - lots of brownie points. Your other half will think that you're perfect ... even if you know better.
