Growing up, for children, is a source of delight and as they grow
they experience remarkable changes, especially as their bodies grow and all in
a relatively short period of time. With the amount of energy children use in
their play, work and activity great demand is placed on their young bodies.
They need a constant supply of good food, minerals and vitamins to ensure
healthy growth.
With their love of foods such as crisps, sweets and
fatty sugary foods it's not always possible to ensure that children are getting
all the nourishment they need to help them develop to their fullest. Ideally
all children should eat a well-balanced daily diet of fresh fruit, vegetables,
bread, salad, lean meat and fish. If however you are unable to persuade them to
eat sensibly there is nothing wrong with giving children mineral supplements.
These are not substitutes for the real thing found in fresh food but can help
if you are concerned that your child isn't getting enough of the right
vitamins.
(Don't forget, always check with your GP if you have any
concerns over your child's health or before you consider giving supplements).
