Research has shown that children learn about alcohol from a very early age.
- A recent survey of 5-10 year olds showed that:-
· 96% were able to recognise the effects of drunkenness
- 90% could identify beer and/or whisky by its smell alone
By the age of 7 most children have tasted an alcoholic drink.
- Of the 7-10 age group research showed 85% claimed to have tasted an alcoholic drink
- 83% said their parents had given them a taste
- 72% said they had tasted it at home
