TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation
Hieroglyphics from 2500BC show the ancient Egyptians found that a species of catfish held against the skin produced an electrical charge, which proved very useful in relieving pain
Early Greek and Roman physicians used a similar method with electric eels to ease the pain of headaches and gout.
The ancient philosopher, Aristotle, described pain as "a passion of the soul".
TENS is a means of stimulating the body's own natural defences against pain. The unit transmits a gentle stimulus through the skin causing a release of endorphins - the body's natural pain reliever.
TENS can be used for back pain, menstrual pain, arthritis, sciatica, rheumatism, migraines, sports injuries, travel sickness, stress, tension and insomnia.
Never use a TENS machine on undiagnosed pain and consult your GP before using the machine.
There are no known side effects from using a TENS machine
The research, technology and quality engineering of today have made TENS a therapeutic, safe and highly effective pain relief system.
TENS is non-invasive and non-addictable
