For the heart – Aspirin

Aspirin has been around since 1899 and doctors love it. Even today they continue to love its ability to help protect against heart attacks and strokes.

We know that taken daily, aspirin can hinder the clotting platelets thereby allowing the blood to flow more freely thus reducing the risk of a heart attack or ischemic stoke. It’s one of the few if not the only approved over-the-counter drugs used for this purpose.

Aspirin has also been known to reduce the risk of death or complications if taken during a suspected heart attack.

Remember though that aspirin is not appropriate for everyone, so consult your doctor before beginning an aspirin regime.
