Smoking Cigars
According to the US Surgeon General, if you don't like the smell of cigar smoke you have every reason not to, as he says second-hand cigar smoke is toxic. Whilst you may think cigars are cool, don't be misled, as they are far from harmless. The risks of emphysema and caners of the mouth are vastly increased by smoking cigars. A study in the New England Journal of Medicine links cigar smoking on a daily basis with cancer, heart disease and chronic lung problems.
Not into cigars? Well be warned, if you smoke a marijuana 'joint' a day for several years the risk of developing throat and neck cancers could be more than doubled, according to researchers. Add cigarette smoking and the odds have just increased by 36-fold. Anything you light up is no good for you and, according to the US Heart Association, smoke related deaths around the globe are expected to triple during this next century.
