Normal semen has vinegar or chlorine type smell which varies among men. However, if that smell becomes powerful and foul smelling, then a visit to the doctors is recommended as it could indicate a bacterial infection.
One culprit to cause the odour problem could be prostatitis which is an inflammation of the semen producing prostate gland. A burning sensation when urinating and groin or lower-back pain are common symptoms. Get checked out as the infection can be passed through intercourse and get treatment by taking a course of antibiotics
