To help reduce the risk of obesity and diseases, such as heart disease, high blood pressure and some cancers, the Government has developed guidelines to help you follow a healthy diet. These are :
- Enjoy your food
- Eat variety of different foods
- Eat the right amount to be a healthy weight
- Eat plenty of foods rich in starch and fibre
- Don't eat too much fat
- Don't eat sugary foods too often
- Look after the minerals and vitamins in your food

Keep within sensible limits when drinking alcohol
