Quash your cravings

Having a strategy to control your cravings whether for sweet and creamy or salty and crunchy isn’t too hard.

Using these tactics could help you to resist temptation:

·         Start smart – Because the body takes longer to break down protein compared to carbs you should eat a high-protein breakfast such as low-fat yoghurt with high-fibre cereal or a veggie omelette. This type of start to the day will mean you will stay fuller longer thereby being able to resist that mid-morning break.

·         Make it spicy – Foods that are sharp-tasting such as pickles, hot peppers and tomato juice can overwhelm your taste buds. Thereby cutting your appetite and cravings.

·         Beat your stomach – By being clever, if you eat food on an empty stomach your sense of pleasure is heightened.

However studies show that if you eat the food you crave twice a day for 2 weeks on a full stomach your desire for the craving may decrease
