22nd Nov 19

Working out at home is seriously underrated in the world of fitness. Some people love it, some people hate it, but no matter where you stand, there are some things that you just can’t argue with, and those are the benefits that come along with having a home gym and working out at home. It’s like your own private gym after all.

The gym is the gym. It’s a tried and tested awesome way to get fit, or it can be if you can stick with it. You know exactly what to expect. The equipment, the people, the facilities, the staff and memberships (and the etiquette!). It’s all there, so why would anybody actually want to work out at home?

Luckily for you, that’s exactly what we’re here to tell you. From the time-saving bliss to the comfort of home, we’ll run you through the lot.

Convenience

Nobody can argue with the convenience of a home gym. It’s literally closer than your doorstep. You can go whenever you feel like with no one to answer to but you. It’s your own personal exercise sanctuary; no matter if it’s your garage gym or your living room floor.

Think about it; there’s what’s outside of the home workout too! Your kitchen is close by so you can refuel before, during or after with no problems. Your bathroom is just around the corner. The whole place is your oyster to do what you will. You can even wear whatever you want without worrying about your appearance or if anybody else is watching you. It’s 100% yours!

Confidence Boost

Another huge benefit of working out in a home gym, or working out at home in general, is the confidence boost you can get from it. This doesn’t apply to everyone (nor should it!), but for some, it means the world. You can do exactly what you want to do and learn as you go. It’s just you and your workout, with nobody else to worry about.

On top of that, you can even get the best of both worlds. (Exercise has a tonne of social benefits after all). If you want a workout partner, you can even work out with friends and family for that extra motivation if that’s what helps you out! The beauty of exercising at home is that it enables you to be able to truly customise your experience from beginning to end so that you can do anything anywhere anytime, with no one else to think or worry about aside from yourself, so relax!

Better Hygiene

One of the worst things about the gym is hygiene, without a doubt. The sweat, the smell, the marks on the machine from the person who forgot their towel, even the showers can be unpleasant at times. For a lot of people, that alone can be a huge put-off.

Of course, if you’re at home, you have complete control over this and can be as clean or as messy as you like, no one else will be around to complain either way. It’s your home after all. Even on top of that, you have control of the climate, the atmosphere, and as we just can’t iterate enough, your own, personal shower is just metres away.

One-Off Cost

Money is one of the benefits of a home gym that is actually not set in stone. In fact, we’d go as far as to say it’s something that people don’t even think about, but we’ll run you through it.

A gym membership can be a HUGE outgoing in your monthly expenditure. It varies upon location, but it can be extremely pricey. A home gym takes the expense away and can work out a whole lot cheaper in the long run, even after a year or two. You can buy the exact equipment you need and not waste money on anything you don’t. Sell stuff to upgrade and buy as you need. That’s it! Even if it’s expensive to start, a lot of companies offer free finance options to help you out too. It’s worth a thought!

Time Saving

Like the convenience mentioned above, your home gym never closes. The convenience isn’t stuck in the point above with your gym being in your home; it’s so much more than that too. No matter how busy your life is, the gym is ready and waiting for you. You can fit it around work, kids, errands, family, anything really. There’s no travelling, no prep; it’s just get in, work out, get out.

Even on top of the time that you’re saving by not having to travel to and from the gym or make that extra effort to go, but you have the most efficient workouts of your life too. Everything is free for you to use as you see fit. There’s no queueing, no waiting, no rushing; it’s just yours. All of it. That alone can be a real winner when it comes to working out from home.

What About The Gym?

Those are all of the benefits of a home gym and working out at home in general, but before you go, we need to mention the gym.

Despite everything we’ve said, that doesn’t mean to say however, that working out at home is the best thing for you. The gym is almost always going to have more equipment and services to offer that simply can’t really be expected at home. There are extra products for sale, personal training on offer, and saunas at times, but these don’t have to be as necessary as they’re made out.

Articles like this are tools you can use at home to educate and prepare yourself for the exercise ahead. Along with other resources, you can essentially train and maintain yourself more effectively that you often could; if not because of your knowledge, but the flexibility to do so. You can plan your whole day around what time you want to exercise, or when to eat, and even what muscle groups to use on what day.

Ultimately, you need to find a way to exercise that works best for you personally. At home or the gym, your fitness is vital to a healthy life. Try your best to make the most of it!
