About our Punch Bags
Okay, we admit, punch bags are a brilliant stress reliever, but they have heaps more to offer too. Boxercise is popular for good reason; it’s effective! You can reap all the rewards of cardio here, with some muscle-building too, and we’re eager to help you pick one that aligns with your goals, whether that’s weight loss, improving general health or developing your power.
There are 2 variations to consider when narrowing your options; do you go free standing or hanging? Each has its own merits. Free standers are certainly convenient. Simply fill them with sand or water and get punches. The flip side is that they do tend to tumble if the base is too small. Hanging bags require a bracket or joist to clip the chains of the bag too, so are a little more hands-on with the setup. They rebound better once they’re up, though, and deliver the superior workouts from the two.
Sizes and weights fluctuate considerably, (we’re still talking about punch bags) and has an enormous impact on your training. For beginners to tone and lose weight, look for a lighter and smaller bag. You won’t have to punch as hard to move the bag and will develop a nice rhythm. That's good for getting the lower body involved and getting a full-body workout, just with punch bag! To ramp the intensity and your power-up, a heavier and longer design is needed with a demand for a higher level of technical ability. That will build up your strength and give a much harder workout. Each to their own, but think carefully.
A bonus option is a speed bag. As the name suggests they develop speed, rhythm, accuracy, and coordination. They are small inflatable bags designed for improving technical boxing skills as opposed to specific fitness goals.
