About our Weight Benches
Weight benches are an awesome way to get an incredible weight training workout, that much you probably already know. You’re here after all, right? They’re tough, durable, small and versatile. They’re everything you need for a home gym, and whether they’re part of a bigger plan or the only kit you want, they’re an awesome choice.
On top of that, you’re absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to which weight bench you’re actually going to get, so you can really make a perfect match. There are tonnes to choose from, and it can actually get a little complicated. To make things a bit easier for you, here's some of the most important info that you need to know about buying one for yourself. Weight benches aren't always cheap after all, and you want something you're going to love!
Weight Bench Prices
So you want a weight bench, but maybe you're not too sure what's actually worth buying. We have a huge range, after all, ranging from prices like £50 through to £500. That's a huge difference. Now, although we love all of them, there are some differences that the price indicates. If you're a beginner, you're in luck. The cheaper benches are much more beginner-friendly, and for a lot of different reasons too. They're easy to use, compact, often foldable and just generally nice and easy. Perfect. The pricier weight benches are, generally speaking, the more advanced bits of kit. They offer you more features, more weight, and generally a better workout. Have a think about what you need.
Weight Bench Styles
On top of the price of the weight bench you want to buy, you need to think about what it's going to be used for too. There's a massive range of different types out there. There're dumbbell benches, barbell benches, foldable benches, rack benches, ab benches, fixed benches… there's a lot. Before you pick one, make sure that you've really done your homework and found which one you need. They all have their own speciality and, depending on your space, experience and goals, they might change the game.
Weight Bench Sizes
The next thing to think about is how big you want your weight bench to be. Generally speaking, the bigger, the better, but that's not always as practical as you need it to be. If you're short on space, a more compact or even a foldable bench might be the perfect fit for what you need, no matter how experienced you are. If you're setting up your own dedicated home gym and have a lot of space, it might be worth spending that bit extra to go Olympic sized and maximise your lifting. There are always pros and cons to a purchase. Measure up before you buy!
Weight Bench Features
This is where things get a little more complicated, so don't worry about it too much. There are always exercises that are universal, and this one is more about preference than anything else. The best weight bench for you might not be the best for someone else. As far as weight bench features go, there are a few varying factors. Like we said above in the types of benches, you have benches with racks, benches that fold, fixed motion benches, the works. They all have their own remarkable features. Racks are awesome if you’re going be lifting heavy. They make things way easier for you. Foldable benches do what you expect, and they're the perfect space saver, and fixed motion benches mean you can lift huge weights without worrying about dropping it. They’re all completely different, so keep that in mind!
Weight Bench Sets
Just to make things that little bit easier for you (and to save you some time and money when you're buying), we've made some packages for our benches too. We've put together the best fits for each bench to give you the perfect set up all at once. If you're not sure what you want, or even if you are, check out what we've got and see if you can save a penny or two. Different benches use different sized equipment, different weight plates, and different maximum weights. That's just some useful info to remember, and we know what we're talking about!
All of this is a lot to take in, and we’ve only scratched the surface of what we’ve got for you, too. If you want some more info or even some ideas on how to use a weight bench, check out some of our articles!
We’ve only touched up on the basic differences here, we also have folding, adjustable, flat, ab benches, if you’d like to dive into deeper details head over to our weight bench buying guide.
